Certain Sight in Eritrea (2014) Photography Installation

Comprised of photographs taken during Spring 2014, Certain Sight in Eritrea presents images of everyday life in the East African nation of Eritrea– as seen by Eritrean American, San Francisco-based visual artist Sephora Woldu. Spanning the capital city of Asmara to the Red Sea coastal town of Massawa, the photography exhibit centers around some of the ordinary things seen while traveling (the certainty of everyday life) and the internal thought process of examining one’s place in the context of countries visited. Presented as a pop-up at 111 Minna Gallery in San Francisco, Certain Sight in Eritrea is the personal exposition of a traveler’s tale and how it pertains to identity after the plane ride.
